University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Muzaffarabad is a public sector university of Pakistan, chartered by Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and recognized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was established in 1980. University is located in Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan. University is currently ranked at No. 22 in HEC ranking of General category universities in Pakistan. It is basically multi disciplined and multi campuses University. The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is biggest and oldest educational institute in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The university is producing graduates, M.Phil scholars and PhD doctors to serve the nation. Like other departments, the university has an institute of Kashmir Studies that is providing education about history of State of Kashmir. University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is also affiliated with Pakistan Engineering Council, Bar Council of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and National Computing Education Accreditation Council. Motto of the University is “Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve”.

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology is one of the established departments of the University. The Department is situated in the heart of Muzaffarabad. The department has 19 faculty members (07 PhD’s and 09 MS/M.Phill) and more than 400 students enrolled in various degree programs. The mission of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology is to provide education in theoretical and experimental foundation of Computing Technology, apply it to solve real world problems and conduct computing & inter-disciplinary research.
