Habib University Karachi is one of the private sector liberal arts university of Pakistan, chartered by Government of Sindh and recognized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Habib University was established in 2014. University is located in Karachi. The House of Habib formed the Habib University Foundation (a not-for-profit organization). Motto of the University is “Every Human Being’s worth is in their Yohsin (thoughtful self-cultivation)”. Habib University has been constructed in two phases. Spread over 6.3 acres of land, the City Campus has all the features of a modern state-of-the-art university. In the second phase, Habib University will expand to a larger residential campus on the outskirts of Karachi.
The university offers six majors including Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Social Development & Policy, Communication & Design and Comparative Liberal Studies. All classes are modeled after a tutorial system which includes small classes of 12 students۔
The university has affiliations with Stanford University, Pitzer College, University of Michigan, Carnegie Mellon University, LUMS, University of California, Berkeley, and Texas A&M University; allowing student’s to attend summer sessions at these universities. The university is regarded as among Pakistan’s most progressive education institute.
The Dhanani School of Science and Engineering (DSSE) aims to have a profound impact on the society and economy of Pakistan. The School takes an innovative approach to an engineering and science education, balancing both its theoretical and practical aspects, and combining these with instruction in the liberal arts. It supplements traditional learning methods with community-based and project-based learning.
