Islamia College University Peshawar is a public sector university, chartered by Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and recognized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Islamia College University Peshawar is located in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Islamia College Peshawar was founded in 1913 by Sir Sayyed Ahmed Khan and their Colleagues. Islamia College University Peshawar is one of the oldest institutions of higher education. Islamia College granted university status in 2008. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah visited this College in 1936, 1945 and 1948. Quaid-e-Azam who became lifelong honorary member of the Khyber Union ICP in 1936 made the College one of the heirs of his property in 1939. The Quaid Trust later on paid an amount of Rs.1, 08, 11, 600 /- in different installments to the College.
The Department of Computer Science of Islamia College Peshawar was established in 1987. Islamia College was a constituent college of Peshawar University in those days. The department started BSc Computer Science at the time of its beginning. BCS program was started in the year 2000. In the year 2008 Islamia College became a University and its first batch of BCS and BS Computer Science got enrolled in the same year. The Department of Computer Science is striving for excellence in creating, applying and imparting knowledge in computer science through comprehensive educational programs, research in collaboration with the industry and government, dissemination through scholarly publications and is providing service to society, the community and the nation. Department is having 5 well equipped labs and 1 state of the art Research lab.
